Increasing activity in the house building, development and renovation sector in Gwynedd has brought with it an increasing need for associated contractors to carry out the work.
Having worked in the construction industry since 2000, gaining progressively more responsibility in his roles, the next logical step for Martin Williams, of Brynrefail was to start his own business. He had also witnessed the increase in demand first-hand, and was confident that there was enough custom locally to support his venture. His time spent in the industry also meant that Martin already had a substantial network of contacts, including suppliers, construction companies and potential customers.
Martin had made his own investment in the company, but required assistance raising the money to purchase the remaining items of initial equipment he needed. Through his New Business Start Up advisor at Menter Mon, Martin learned about the Llwyddo‘n Lleol scheme, and submitted an application to the bursary fund. His commitment to the venture, and clear understanding of the industry convinced the bursary panel that this was a business which was very likely to succeed, and a bursary was awarded.
"I've been really busy since the moment I started" said Martin, "sometimes it's a struggle keeping up with demand! I hope to take on an assistant soon to help with the workload."
