Paul Elson from Buckley has celebrated the launch of his own business and is spinning around running the venture in his spare time! Paul works as a fitness trainer for Flintshire Leisure Services, and with the support of his employers who have allowed him to reduce his work hours, Paul has set up his own studio cycling classes (otherwise known as ‘spinning®‘) across Flintshire‘s leisure centres.
Studio cycling is a new concept in exercise which is growing rapidly in popularity. It was introduced to the UK from America in the late 90s and it is based on the idea of cycling on a stationary bike to music under instruction.
The business, known as ‘RPM Cycling‘, will be officially launched at 11.00 am on Thursday the 31st of August by local AM Carl Sargeant at Buckley Leisure Centre. Paul will be trialling the business for a six month period alongside his part time work at Buckley Leisure Centre. Said Paul Elson:
"I am very grateful to Flintshire Leisure Services who have been extremely supportive employers. Without their flexibility in allowing me to change from working full time to part time, I don't think this would have been possible. I doubt whether I would have taken the plunge by giving up my job to start this business."
Paul has also received support through Mold based Menter a Busnes‘ pre-start up schemes namely the Enterprise Factory and BOS 18-30.
