What is Cywain Fisheries?
The main aim of CYWAIN FISHERIES is to assist the fish sector to add value to its product. This is done through developing new products and markets, with the emphasis on cooperation. It’s hoped that effective cooperation will help to create a sustainable future for the sector. The assistance available will include all kinds of support, facilitation, expert advice and a high quality mentoring service, with strong emphasis on adding value. The aim is to build the capacity and confidence of the participants in order to enable them to take ownership of the new venture and to encourage them to make the most of its potential. We work with four different groups: • Fishermen • Fishmongers • Associations • Aquaculture The project also provides a clear focus on the needs and desires of customers, in addition to the general market. This will be achieved through the provision of a market intelligence service which is considered an integral part of developing successful new products and markets.
Funding
The project operates throughout the whole of Wales, and is funded through the European Fisheries Fund, with match funding from the Welsh Assembly Government. There is no cost to the client for the service.
