Reforming European fisheries subsidies

European fisheries subsidies are maintaining, and possibly even increasing, fishing overcapacity – one of the main drivers of overfishing.  The EU has committed to removing environmentally damaging subsidies and to defining a roadmap for their elimination by 2008.
