A pint in a pub with friends is getting more unaffordable due to “sharp rises” in tax and VAT.
The British Beer & Pub Association said pub beer sales fell by 4.3 per cent from July to September compared with last year – equivalent to 45 million fewer pints – while supermarket and off-licence sales were up.
